Charlotte Jean Hellewell, 88, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 at Holy Cross Jordan Valley Hospital in West Jordan, Utah after a brief illness.

Charlotte was born July 13, 1935, in Longview, Texas, to Charles (Chuck) Henry and Willomene Ethelene Merrill.  Charlotte attended and graduated from Springville High School and attended BYU. She was a longtime resident of Midvale, Utah where she raised her two sons.

Charlotte married Jay Roy Bradshaw and had two children; they later divorced.  She married her eternal partner George Edward Hellewell on September 25, 1982 in the Jordan River Temple.  Shortly after their marriage, they served a mission together in British Columbia, Canada where they served in Bella Coola and then retired to Heyburn, Idaho where they worked side by side on their property. They were blessed with many close family and friends in their decades of living in Heyburn. Following George’s death in April 2016, Charlotte moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to family.

Charlotte was a longtime employee of Mountain Fuel as a telephone operator where she gained many lifetime acquaintances.

Charlotte was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She had a passion for genealogy and would tell anyone who would listen to many stories about her ancestors. She was also a very talented organist, enjoyed spending time at the temple and loved to crochet.  Many family members were recipients of her craft which she loved to share.

Charlotte is survived by her sons, Kevin (Debbie) Bradshaw, Darin (Linda) Bradshaw, 5 grandchildren, Justin Bradshaw, Jeffrey Bradshaw, Megan Ellis, Mychal Bradshaw, Kelley Bradshaw and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Hellewell, her parents, and sister and brother-in-law Lura Mae and Darwin Elroy Harmon.

A public viewing will be held Friday February 16, 2024 from 6 to 8 pm at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho.

A viewing for family members will be held Saturday February 17, 2024 at 11 am at Hansen Mortuary followed by graveside service at 12 pm at the Heyburn Riverside Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
