Jesse Max Heward passed away Sunday March 10, 2024, at the age of 81 years. Max was born in Burley, Idaho. His parents were John and Phyllis Heward. He grew up south of Burley where he helped his father on the family farm. He lived in View until 1997 then moved to Rupert, Idaho.
Max learned how to be a carpenter from his father-in-law, Leslie Dana and helped him build many homes in and around Burley. He later worked for J.R. Simplot in the carpenter shop for 30 years.
Max loved horses. He started training them at a very early age and has trained many of them for friends. Max joined a riding club in about 1966 and traveled with them performing at rodeos and going on many trail rides. Later he started to team pen and sort at least once a month.
Max also loved fishing, hunting, camping with the family, the Utah Jazz and the Green Bay Packers. But most of all his family.
On September 9, 1960, Max married Marilyn Kay Dana. He built a home for them in View. They have 5 children Jay (Lauri) Heward of Burley, Scott (Mandy) Heward of Heyburn, Keith (Tammy) Heward of Rupert, Marla (Jeffrey) Garner of Boise, and Alan (Tena) Heward of St. George, Utah. He also has 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Siblings Leon (Pat) Heward, Ronald (Pam) Heward, Louise Packer, Elaine (Steve) Cheney, and Carol (Claude) Weyant.
Max held many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His two favorites were Nursery Leader and Coaching the Explorer basketball teams.
He has gone to join his parents, his grandson Dusty and many other loved ones. What a happy reunion they will all have.
We would like to thank the Minidoka Memorial Hospital, Countryside Care Center and Rehabilitation and Doctors and Nurses. Hansen Mortuary Staff. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 16, 2024, at Acequia 1st Ward Chapel with Bishop Cregg Poteet conducting. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday March 15, 2024, at Hansen Mortuary Rupert and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will conclude with burial at the View Cemetery, Burley, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
