Tony Gilbert Pena, Rupert, Idaho gained his wings on Sunday, December 10, 2023.  Tony was a resident at Twin Falls Transitional Care located in Twin Falls, Idaho.  Tony was born September 3, 1945 in Del Norte Colorado to Max and Frances.  Tony made his home in Mini-Cassia and Treasure Valley for most of his life.  Tony attended Rupert schools graduating from Minico High School in 1964, where he also played Varsity football wearing number 61 on his jersey.  Tony was so very proud of his participation in football.

Tony married his first wife Lorraine in 1964.  From this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters.  Tony was later divorced.  He joined the United States Air Force, stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois.  Later stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah where he worked on the Boeing Aircraft.  Tony attended the College of Southern Idaho where he received his degree in Small Appliance Sales and Services in Rupert.  He was also employed by several local potato plants.  He was an employee of Cassia County as a jailer where he made many friends and led some to Christ.  Tony loved to sing and play his guitar.  He also loved to write his spiritual thoughts in his journals.  Tony was also involved with the local jail ministry.  Tony had a special place in his heart for young people who were troubled.  His biggest priority was his faith in God and his family.  Tony raised his second wife’s daughters as his own and he also raised some of his grandchildren.  Tony was a prayer warrior and in doing so, he loved and prayed for each of his family members.  Tony never met a stranger and if you had the honor of meeting him, you know he would greet you with a smile and might sing you a song.  Tonys obsession for Elvis was very obvious and it began at a very young age and continued until his last breath where he went to be with his Lord and Savior, where he heard “Elvis has left the building.”

Tony was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Ross, Don (Bobby), sister Dora Saldana, daughters Peggy and Teresa and infant son Issac Pena.  He is survived by his wife Julia Pena, sons Troy G Pena and Cody Pena.  Daughter Lisa Pena Haggan, Ramona, and Gloria.  Brother Max Pena Jr. (Maxine), one sister Judy (Andy) Maestas, and numerous grandchildren.  Tony had a special love for his God Son Matthew Maestas.
