Murray George
Goold
Nov. 17, 1922 - Sep. 21, 2016
Date of Service: Sep. 26, 2016
Murray George Goold, a lifetime resident of Heyburn, Idaho, returned home to be with his beloved wife and soul mate of 74 years, Bethene Mabey Goold.
Murray was born November 17, 1922, to George and Mary Hicks Goold in Burley, Idaho.
Murray met the love of his life at a local dance. Bethene soon departed to work in the ship yards in Washington during World War II. Murray soon discovered that he couldn't live without her and went and brought her home to be his wife. They were married July 15, 1942.
Murray owned his own business, Goold Motor Tune Up, in Rupert, Idaho. After the war was over, Murray began working for Massey Ferguson Corp., which he was very well suited for being an equipment salesman. He never knew a stranger, so selling equipment came naturally for him. He was a resourceful, talented, adventurous craftsman with a witty sense of humor.
If you knew Murray and Bethene, you knew how much they loved to go fishing on the coast, catching the big King Salmon. If they weren't on the coast fishing they were at their favorite local fishing hole. They always maintained several farms and a beautiful home and yard. Together they made a great life.
Murray, affectionately known as "Uncle Perk" is survived by family who loved him dearly and he will be truly missed.
Murray was preceded in death by his wife Bethene, parents George and Mary Goold, two brothers, Reed and Ralph Goold, three sisters, Tresie Goold, Ruby Bywater and Luella Burgess.
Gathering for family and friends will be Monday September 26, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:30 at Hansen Mortuary with a graveside service at Heyburn Riverside Cemetery immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, % Patty Shockey 60 W 100 N, Rupert, Idaho 83350.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Pomerelle Place and the wonderful staff, for the loving care that was delivered to Murray the last couple years of his life. He maybe couldn't stay at home, but the staff made it his new home. He was treated with love and respect and compassion everyday by everyone. He truly loved the girls that took care of him. Along with Auburn Crest Hospice, we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
