Maria
Fil
Sep. 22, 1922 - Jan. 6, 2017
Date of Service: May 13, 2017
On January 6, 2017, Maria Fil passed away suddenly at home at the age of 94. On that day the world lost and heaven gained one beautiful soul.
Maria was the kind of person who touched the hearts of everyone she met. Whether you were born into the family, married to the family, divorced from the family, a neighbor, a fellow parishioner or a stranger shopping in the grocery store, Maria made you feel special. She made you feel loved and appreciated. This amazing woman always had a lot of love to share; and if you came to visit her you never left her house with an empty stomach. Those who were lucky enough to know her experienced a friendship, a relationship, like none they would ever experience again. She was the kindest, warmest genuine person anyone could know. Maria met every day and every situation with a smile. She definitely made this world a better place.
Maria liked sunny days and enjoyed sitting on her new patio and watching people going by. She was full of wisdom, compassion, and caring and was grateful for everything and everyone. She engaged everyone she met with an ageless spirit and you could never forget that energy and smiling face.
Being from Ukraine Maria learned to speak Polish and German along with her native language. After WWII Maria and her husband, Andrey Fil, decided to take a chance on immigrating to America through a sponsor in Declo. Here, Maria and Andrey made a life for their four children. Her life was her family. She was strong in her faith and a member of St. Theresa Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley, Idaho. She was an active member of the Altar Society of the Catholic Church and often volunteered to work the church bazaars. Maria retired from Ore-Ida Foods where she had worked for over 20 years.
Maria was born in Horajec, Ukraine, to Michail Kuszil and Anastazia Goch Kuszil on September 22, 1922. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, one grandson, and her husband, Andrey Fil. She is survived by her four children Bohdan (Deborah) Fil, Ethor "Michael" Fil, Nina (Thomas James) Fil Papazis, and Lena Fil Paxton; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.
Maria will be missed by all who knew her. She left a void in this world that cannot be replaced by anyone.
Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017 at St Teresa Little Flower Catholic Church. Family and Friends will gather for one hour prior to the services at the church. Services will conclude with burial in the Declo Cemetery under the direction of Hansen Mortuary. Online condolences may be left at hansen-mortuary.com
