Alexandre Costa Obituary

Alexandre Laurentino Da Costa passed away June 13, 2018 in Erda, Utah. Alex was born September 23, 1953 in Sao Francisco Brazil. He was the son of Arnoldo Alexandre Da Costa and Sizenanda Maria Da Silva.
Alex is survived by his five children who he completely adored, Mariandre, Melanie, Melissa, and Mallerie. Although circumstances did not allow him to be with them, he always thought about them and loved them with all his heart.
Alex graduated with a college degree in Accounting. Alex worked in the hospitality industry for many years in Chicago, Memphis, and finally settling in Dallas,Texas. He loved his job and was a very dedicated employee. He would often volunteer to work all the holidays so that others could spend time with their families. He made many lifelong friends.
Alex was obsessed with Diet Coke, Salt and Angelina Jolie. He hated to drink water. He did NOT like to be messy and could often be found eating his hamburger and fries with a fork. Alex loved listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He was often heard singing to their music while in the shower holding every last note as long as he could. Their music gave him a lot of peace and comfort throughout his life.
Alex was an active dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served an LDS mission in Brazil. He loved his Savior more than anything. He had a fierce love of the temple and attended as often as possible even in spite of his health challenges.
Alex had a great love for LDS missionaries. He called them his sons and daughters. He made it his personal responsibility to take care of any and all of their needs just like a father would. Many of his missionaries called him "Papito". He was very selfless and Christlike. If there was anything his missionaries needed he would always take care of it. He would give them the shirt off his own back if they needed it. He was known to show up with arms full of supplies and food for anyone who was in need. His missionary sons and daughters will always be grateful for his love and kindness to them.
Alex was funny and had a great sense of humor. He was fun to be around and had an amazing accent that everyone loved. He was a very unique person and was a joy to be around.
In the last couple years, Alex suffered several strokes which caused him daily pain. He was stubborn and it was hard for him to accept help because he was used to being the one to give to others. However, having the strokes allowed him to be able to move to Utah which was a lifelong dream for him. The Heward Family moved Alex to Utah and "adopted" him. He lived with them for the remainder of his life. He was a great blessing to their family and they learned many things from him. They will always be grateful for everything Alex did for their family.
We are so thankful to all his missionary sons and daughters for their support and love for Alex. Alex loved each and every one of you. We have no doubt he is now your personal angel helping guide you and cheering you on from heaven. We appreciate the Erda Ward for the many meals and visits that were given to Alex and our family during the last couple months. We miss you Alex and love you more than you will ever know!
A small memorial will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 5pm at 1037 W Erda Way in Erda Utah.
