Jay Lynn McDonald, 73, of Burley, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at Parke View Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Brigham City, Utah and moved to Burley when he was six years old and resided there until his death. Jay was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and graduated with an associate degree from Ricks College in Rexburg. He was an artist who won many awards at Ricks College. He enjoyed operating his Ham radio (K7QXD) and used it to talk with people all over the world. Jay worked in the grocery business for Farmer’s Corner, Shelby’s, Safeway’s and Ridleys.
He is survived by his sister, LuAnna (Allen) Maxson of Sandy, Utah; a nephew, Cory Allen Maxson of Eagle Mountain, Utah; and two nieces, Jennifer Cooper of Lehi, Utah and Arminda Maxson of Sandy, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father, Merlin McDonald, who passed away when Jay was two years old, his mother Wilma and father who raised him, Fred Bowcut.
The family would like to thank the staff of Parke View Care and the IHC Hospice Staff and all of those who showed Jay love and care thru his life.
No public services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary in Rupert, Idaho.
