Lawrence Owen Penrod passed away August 16, 2019 in Pocatello Idaho.
He was born August 14, 1929 in Park City, Utah to Owen K. Penrod and Reva A. Berry. He was the oldest of 6 children. He lived in Park City, Utah, and then later moved with his family to Declo, Idaho. He graduated Declo High School and went on to attend ISU where he graduated in Diesel Mechanics. He worked on his family farm in Declo and then for the Amalgamated Sugar Company in Paul, Idaho for 36 years.
Lawrence met his sweetheart while traveling with the Declo basketball team to play their rival, Malta. While waiting for the team to leave he shot baskets with the janitor’s daughter, Naldene Carnahan. They were married in the Logan, Utah temple December 14, 1962.
Lawrence was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served a Stake mission and various other callings faithfully. All his life he didn’t hear well but would go to church even though he couldn’t hear what was being said.
He is survived by his wife, Naldene of 57 years, brothers Roy (Jerilyn) of Declo, Jerry (Laurie) of Pocatello and a sister Charlene Koyle of Springdale.
His children Nelda (Scott) Davis, Nampa, Laurie Penrod, Pocatello, Pam Miller, Riverton, Utah and Eileen (Travis) Hardy, Heyburn.
Grandchildren Britni, Courtni, McKinzi, Khegan, Talin, Bayli, Rygil, Michael, Jerica, Colton, Isaac, Katelyn, and Bethany. Great grandchildren Carter and Owen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ray, sister Florence Egbert, daughter Rosemarie and grandson Ethon Davis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 24, 2019 at the Heyburn Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 300 South 500 West with Bishop Bill Conant officiating. Viewing for family and friends will be held Friday August 23, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hansen Mortuary 710 6th St in Rupert and one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Declo Cemetery.
