Thomas Wilmer Rigby , age 73 passed away on Saturday, December 21. 2019 at the Mini Cassia Care Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Tom was born on February 20, 1946 to Fredrick J. Rigby and Ardith Dennis Rigby in Malad, Idaho. He graduated from Raft River High School and attended college in Twin Falls and Pocatello, Idaho with an Associates in Mechanical Engineering.
Tom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held several positions in the church.
Tom married Dena Huntsman Rigby on June 9, 1972 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Tom started his career out as a diesel mechanic for J.R. Simplot while living in Burley. He moved back to Sublett to help run the family farm.
While farming Tom had other hobbies such as gold mining with his brother Steve, his sons and nephew. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities.
Toms one big hobby was his hot rod that he started building while still in High School.
Tom is survived by his wife Dena Rigby, children William (Bonnie) Rigby, Jeff Rigby, Tiffany (Kyle) Kunder and Cindy (Justin) Cottle. Sisters Cheryl Thelon, Julia Parker, Vickie (Dennis) Lindsey and brother Steve (Ann) Rigby, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Fredrick J. Rigby and Ardith Dennis Rigby, older brother Jim Rigby and sister in law Janette Rigby.
Tom was a great husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and really enjoyed spending time with them all.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Mini Cassia Care Center, Harrison’s Hope Hospice and all the nurses ais who helped take care of Tom.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Malta Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints building in Malta, Idaho. Viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services and will conclude with burial at the Sublett Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
