Allen Tuma Obituary

Allen Charles Tuma

August 28, 1940-March 13,2026

Allen Charles Tuma 85, born in Narka, KS on 8/28/1940 to Alvin and Ella Tuma. He passed away 3/13/2026 in Las Vegas, NV as he was returning to Rupert from his winter home in Yuma, AZ. Ella married James Vajgrt when Allen was 7 and had a very close relationship with his "dad" Jim until his death in 1976. Allen had a little sister, Sharon. They were very close growing up and did much together through adulthood maintaining the close relationship built as kids.

They were joined by brother James on Allen's 13th Birthday, followed by sister Nancy 4 years later. They lived for some time farming near Ella's family in Dorchester, Nebraska. Then moved briefly to Denver. After Denver, they moved back to Nebraska and bought a small farm. Shortly after Jim drew a homestead for Veterans on the Northside in Rupert and moved the family to Idaho arriving on Christmas Eve 1955 when Allen was 15. After high school graduation Allen worked for Gene Spacek farming, then Max Herbolt where he drove trucks. He married Judith Manning in the fall of 1961 where they were blessed with 3 children, Teresa (1962), Brenda (1963), and Doug (1965). They later divorced in 1976.

Allen married the love of his life Marilyn Bean, welcoming her two children Stacey and Travis on March 21, 1981. They have been married for 45 years. They welcomed numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. They were a strong team helping each other through many years of work, life, various health problems, and good times.

He and Marilyn went on many Motorhome adventures together and with friends. They have enjoyed winters in Yuma for many years and hurried out of the cold as soon as the harvest parties were complete. Every year he was visited by his sisters Nancy and Sharon. One of Allen's first tasks when getting to Yuma was to find a used pick up for Doug's farm. This always ensured a visit from Doug, James, and Andy to drive the pickup home. They enjoyed ATV adventures with friends and family and notably joined several Father’s Day adventures to Jackpot from Oakley. Also, Multiday adventures in Island Park and surrounding area. He had many friendships that lasted a lifetime being a loyal friend. He loved having a beer with friends whether that be on the boat while fishing, in his shop, or on a side-by-side ride. Allen enjoyed machinery, if there was a motor he was happy to be involved in the adventure; some include hunting, snowmobiling, tractor pulling, ATV trail riding, among many others. Recently, Allen earned his 63-year pin as an Elks member.

After the purchase of his first farm from Lynn Manning, Allen was able to get his start on a successful 50-year career farming and running a feedlot. Allen raised various crops and animals. He instilled this passion for farming in his son Doug who joined him in the family business. Allen tried to retire but remained involved and a fixture supervising his family farm.

Every year at the end of harvest Allen took his crew to Elko NV to celebrate the year of farming and the work they had accomplished.

Until his final harvest season he could be seen overseeing harvest from his ATV, driving trucks when necessary, or jumping in a tractor to inspect the new equipment. Doug and Allen shared a deep bond as father and son. It was strengthened by many years of working together. They regularly spent time together even if that meant a phone call or a spontaneous trip to Jackpot. Allen was never one to sit home on a weekend, often the trail would lead him to a casino where he and Marilyn could gamble. If they did not make the casino they would road trip to Twin Falls or Pocatello usually finding a backroad that nobody else knew about.

Allen is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchild Teresa (Melvin Wagoner) and children (son Garrett and daughter Maddie Wagoner), Brenda (Byron Brice) and children (daughter Darina (Daniel Silvaz), son Michael(Shanna)) Doug (Marlyce) and children (son James(Erin), daughter Sarah (Terrance Lindauer), son Andy(Hailey), Stacey (Scott Lynch) and children (son Cooper (Rebecca), daughter Brennah (Bailey Bench), son Cody), Travis and children (daughter Bobbi, son Braydon, daughter Britnae.
