Byron Dale Fairchild, age 93, was born July 8, 1931, to James Alfred Fairchild and Iola Josephine Smith in Jackson, Idaho. He passed away Sunday, October 27,2024 at Countryside Care Center, Rupert Idaho.

Dale was the 2nd of four boys, Dale’s older brother James Alfred Jr., and two younger brothers, Donald Howard and David Lynn.

The family settled on the Ed Ross farm where Dale grew up and helped his dad farm until his dad passed away in 1964. Dale then took over the responsibility of the farm and caring for his mother.

Growing up he loved riding horses, he would saddle up his horse, Blaze and ride him out in the desert east of their homestead. He had fun fishing in the canal puddles for trout, swimming in the canal with his older brother and hunting jack rabbits in the winter and selling them for a dime each. The boys learned to work on the farm, milking cows, feeding pigs, horses, cows, rabbits, chickens and sheep, bucking and loading hay on a horse drawn wagon, setting syphen tubes to irrigate and many other tasks. He enjoyed golfing and hunting.

When Dale met LaRaine, it was love at first sight. She was his first and only love.  They were married on February 9, 1950, in Burley, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple, June 16, 1965.

Dale worked for J.R. Simplot Co. in Heyburn, Idaho for over 33 years where He was shop foreman in the trucking department.  He retired in 1986, age 55. After retiring he worked for Circle D Farms.

He enjoyed woodworking and made many items for family.

They were blessed with 6 children, 3 girls and 3 boys. Sharan LaRaine, Patty Jo, Byron Ray, Rodney Dale, Stanley D, and Deanna Lynn.  Dale took the family on many fishing and camping trips.

He was Preceded in death by both parents, his wife LaRaine, two brothers, James Alfred, Donald Howard and one daughter Sharan LaRaine  (Ron) Ernst.

He is survived by his children, Patty (Scott) Howard, Byron (Debbie), Rodney  (Rebecca), Stanley (Brenda), and Deanna (Todd) Stauffer, and brother David Lynn (Susan).  Dale and LaRaine have 24 grandchildren and 50 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Dale’s caregivers, Dr. Jeff Swensen, Country Side Care, and the former crew at Valley Vista Care Center for the special care he received.

Viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:45 AM. Monday, November 4,2024 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 806 G Street, Rupert, Idaho. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM with burial at the Rupert Cemetery, Rupert, Idaho.
