Celia A. Lopez, of Rupert, Idaho passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert with her children by her side. Celia was well loved by everyone she came in contact with throughout her life.
Celia was born on December 14, 1936 to Hurbano and Epifania Gonzales Alejos in Cuahtemoc, Vera Cruz, Mexico.
Celia and Daniel were married May 18, 1964 in Alamo, Texas. Celia was the mother of five children; Lettie Campbell Rupert, Idaho, Bobby Lopez Clarksville, Arkansas, Naomi “Cookie” Mascorro Rupert, Idaho, Jaime Lopez Burley, Idaho, and Daniel “Geno” Lopez Jr Nampa, Idaho. Ten grandchildren; Marky, Gabriel, Alex, Makayla, Talon, Jacob, Madeline, Justin, Michael, and Drayton.
She was proud and very happy to have all children and grandchildren gather together. She always provided support and love to her family. Celia and Daniel worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children. She would proudly boast about all her children and grandchildren graduating from high school.
Celia loved to work. She started working at the age of 11 and still worked until her passing. She worked at JR Simplot for 17 years and did the Foster Grandparent Program for the Rupert Head Start for nearly 19 years. She always said, “I love children, so it was an honor to work with children.”
Celia is survived by her children; Lettie Campbell Rupert, Idaho, Bobby (Tanya) Lopez Clarksville, Arkansas, Naomi “Cookie” Mascorro Rupert, Idaho, Jaime (Kristine) Lopez Burley, Idaho, and Daniel “Geno” Lopez Jr. Nampa, Idaho. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. She is also survived by one sister, Gregoria Gozales of McAllen, Texas. Celia was proceeded in death by her parents, Hurbano and Epiphana Gonzales Alejos, her husband Daniel, two brother, Fransico and Constantino Alejos and two sisters, Herminia Alvarez and Paca Alejos.
Viewing for family and friends will be Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Hansen Mortuary, 710 6th Street, from 6-8 p.m. in Rupert Idaho. Funeral services will be Friday, June 26, 2020 at Grace Chapel Church, 100 North Meridian at 2 p.m. in Rupert, Idaho. Interment following at the Rupert Cemetery where Celia will be laid to rest.
