Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Darlene Manning Montgomery, returned to her Heavenly home February 14, 2022.
She was born in her Grandpa Manning’s pioneer, two-story brick home on October 6, 1929 to Alfred G. Manning and Verna Electa Simpson of Hooper, Utah. She was the fourth of six children.
She married Lloyd Jay Montgomery December 2, 1947 and shared 66 years before his passing.
Darlene was a special woman with a caring heart. She made friends easily. Her compassionate spirit led her to care for others. She was first to bring a meal to anyone in need of love, comfort, support or celebration.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she fully immersed herself in serving in all organizations. She especially loved teaching manners and etiquette to young men and young women. For years she volunteered and loved working at LDS Social Services helping couples with adoption.
Darlene and Lloyd traveled many places around the world but the simple pleasure of spending time with family was her favorite. She loved being a mother. She loved, laughed, played, taught and corrected her children with joy. She wanted them to be kind, supportive and helpful to each other and all those they met. Darlene loved and supported Lloyd in all things. Even taking hot meals, plates, glasses, silverware, napkins and children out to the field so they could share a mealtime together. She loved making memories with her grandchildren with picnics, sleepovers and parties. Family was the most important part of her abundant life.
All who knew her, especially her children, will miss Darlene: Cheryl Montgomery Tolman, Dennis (Diana Boldt), Karen (Dee) Jurgensmeier, Nancy (Theo) Schut, 19 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren.
Family gives thanks to: Minidoka Home Assistant Services (Brandy, Kathy, Kaylynn, MaKeeya and Maria) Horizon Hospice (Suzanne and Tawny) Dr. Stewart North, Dr. Joe Peterson, Dr. James Spackman, and Stacey Montgomery.
Gathering for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday February 25, 2022 at Hansen Mortuary 710 6th Street, Rupert. Services will conclude with private family graveside services in the Rupert Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
