Darrell Ogden Obituary

Darrell Ogden, 88, passed away in Rupert, Idaho on July 18, 2025. He was born October 17, 1936, in Arco, Idaho and moved shortly after to Blackfoot, where he grew up. In his younger years he loved to play baseball with his twin brother, Doug. He pitched and Doug was the catcher. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served for three years. Upon returning he married Beth Neeley and had two children, Kirk and Kandle. He married Judy Haycock in 1972, and acquired another daughter, Kelli. He has lived in Rupert for the past 53 years. Darrell’s life was centered on hard work and sports. Darrell worked as a salesman in the potato seed business and then retail sales at Goode Motor for 45 years. He refereed high school football and basketball games for many years in the surrounding area and then transitioned to college basketball. This took him all over the United States which landed him many times in the NCAA men’s basketball final four. He enjoyed racing his horses, hunting, golfing, camping and ATV riding in the mountains in his spare time. He is survived by his children, Kirk Ogden and his wife Anita (Blackfoot, Idaho), Kandle Anne Ogden-Huddy (Blackfoot, Idaho), Kelli Hepworth and her husband Quinn (Rupert, Idaho). Darrell had 6 grandchildren, Kirk and Anita’s children Casey, Chris, and Sheena. Kelli and Quinn’s children, Ryan, Laura and Jill. Darrell also had eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ogden, his parents, Arthur Bobkin and Helen Parks Ogden, three brothers, Mrylin, Gareth, and his twin brother Douglas Ogden, three sisters Ardith Cammack, LouJean Bell and Margene Witt. Survivors include his children and grandchildren. In honor of Darrell’s wishes no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward at Hansen Mortuary. He will be laid to rest in the Rupert Cemetery.
