After a long battle with cancer, David returned home to his Heavenly Father February 4, 2025. David was born August 8, 1944 in Ely, Nevada. He spent most of his life living in Idaho, Colorado, or Utah. He always joked saying he was the family gypsy. He lived in Rupert, Idaho for the past 14 years. David married Sharon Ann Hoffman in 1963. They had two children, Rodney and Deborah. They later divorced. In 1987 David married Alta Louise Bowcutt. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1989.
David is survived by his Wife, Alta Louise Bennett, son, Rodney James Bennett (Colleen), daughter Deborah Jean Bennett, stepsons Curt Peterson, Scott Peterson (Tami), 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Father, Parley (Pat) Bennett, Mother, Lucille Joan Sertic, Brother, Gordon Lynn Bennett (Joan), Sister, Patricia Ann Bennett, and Brother, Mark James Bennett.
David was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He held many leadership positions including Branch President and Bishop. He served in the Twin Falls Temple for 10 years as an Ordinance Worker.
David worked for 58 years for Eaton Metal Products Company, based in Denver, Colorado. He started as a painters helper and worked himself up to Vice President of Sales and Estimating. He loved every minute of that job. He retired in August, 2021.
David had many interests. He loved raising and showing Miniature Hereford cattle for many years and he won many grand championship titles. He loved old cars and was happy to show them off in parades and car shows. He was a member of the Mini-Cassia Auto Collectors Club.
