Edubina Leon Diaz was born on August 6,1937, to Eustacio and Ramona Leon, in Tunguitiro Michoacan, Mexico. She was the third of 10 siblings. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Jesus Salinas. Together they had 3 daughters and a son who she lost at an early age due to whooping cough.. She was widowed in 1961 and was left to care for her 3 daughters ages six, two, and 6 months. She worked by doing odd jobs such as a seamstress, gardener, and ran a tiendita to provide for her 3 daughters. In 1971, she immigrated to the U.S. along with her brother, leaving 2 of her daughters in the care of her eldest daughter and her husband. She came to the Mini-Cassia area and quickly found work as an agricultural laborer. In 1972, she married Henry Rios and together they had 4 children. Henry helped her reunite with her 2 daughters. Edubina and Henry were divorced in 1977. She suffered a setback in 1978 being deported along with her 4 young children. In 1979, she returned to the United States and lived in different locations in Idaho due to her fear of being deported. In 1987, she was granted amnesty and settled in Paul Idaho where she lived the remainder of her life.
She loved sewing, gardening, taking care of her flowers, and spending time with her family. She would unite her family during the holidays by making enough food for everyone and bringing them all under her roof. During her later years her children took part in caring for her and making sure her needs were met.
She is survived by her seven children: Edelmira (Froylan) Ceja, Amalia Salinas, Gloria (Guadalupe) Juarez, Elia (Amador) Chavez, David (Martha) Rios, Debbie (Ramon) Vega, Francisco (Robin) Rios. She has 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents (Eustacio and Ramona), son (Ignacio), and brothers (Ramon and Villibaldo). She was our strong, hard-working, sweet mother. She will be dearly missed.
