Evan Hugh Turley, 86-year-old Rupert resident, passed away September 30, 2020. He was born September 12, 1934 to Hubert A. and Myrtle Ailoth Gaskill Turley in Rupert, Idaho.
He attended Rupert Schools graduating from Rupert High School in 1952. He spent 39 months serving in the U. S. Army, most of that time in Germany.
He enjoyed working with metal and learned the blacksmithing trade from his father and continued operating Turley's Blacksmith Shop in Rupert for six years following his father's passing. He then transitioned to the machinist trade and operated Turley's Machine Shop in Burley for 49 years.
Evan married Verna Buhr in Nampa, on August 14,1960. They were blessed with four sons and seven grandchildren.
He enjoyed classical music and singing, shooting guns, and bowling.
Survivors are: wife of 60 years Verna Turley of Rupert, son, Kurt Turley, of Heyburn, and his children, Anissa (Micah Harrison) Turley and Joel; son, Scott Turley (Kimbra) of Portland, Oregon; and their children, Ted and Katrina; son, Brett Turley (Natalie) of Meridian, and their children, Grace and Samuel; son Kent Turley (Kari Steinwand) of Star, and their son, Dezmo DeGano.
Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Rupert, or charity of your choice. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rupert, Idaho followed by a burial at the Rupert Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary
