Forrest E McCarty Jr. was born June 1, 1927 in Kansas. At the age of 6 his family moved to Idaho because of the dust In 1945 WW2 was ending and he was drafted into the army where he served two years.
When he got out of the army there was no work so dad enlisted in the navy where he spent 4 years. Dad served on The Haven hospital ship and also served on a reclaimer ship during the Korean war. Dad didn't talked much about being in the war but he would speak of his time in Korea and Japan. He always said he liked the now because he had a clean bed at night. Forrest married Viola Farworn on June 27, 1947.
Mom and dad lived in Burley for a short time before buying the house in Paul where they lived and where dad died on December 22, 2021. As kids we remember moving to the house on the highway. Dad and mom worked many evenings and weekends remodeling and fixing up the home and outbuildings. Dad raised cows, sheep, hogs, and chickens on the acreage. He enjoyed raising ewes and lambs mostly.
Forrest worked at Feeders Grain Supply for many years, He and mom owned a Conoco station in Burley for a few years. He did custom trucking, hauling and stacking hay and fertilizing fields for farmers. Dad could fix damned near anything on the farm, his trucks and automobiles, and things around the home inside and outside. Forrest is preceded in death by his parents Opal Ratley (Otis), and Forrest McCarty (Jean). One brother Harrold McCarty (Louise), One sister Norma Jean Schmidt (Howard), and one grandchild Christopher Pockel. Survived by his wife of 7 4 years Viola McCarty, daughters Ginger Pockel (David) a n d Susan Howard (Rick), sons Danial McCarty (Patricia) and Michael Mccarty. Sisters Bonnie Jones (Verl, deceased), Darla Williams (Paul, deceased) and Ginger Higgins (Jack), his brother James McCarty (Audre), 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Forest was a member of the Congregational Church and the Wilbur C Hall Post 77 American Legion in There are no services planned at this time. A celebration of life will be held later.
