Gabino M. Espinoza passed away July 24, 2022 at his home at the age of 98. He was born on February 20, 1924 in San Marcos, Texas to Simon and Preciliana Espinoza.
He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, stationed in Germany. He returned to Texas and a year later, married Eloisa Garza on March 29, 1948 in Edinburg, Texas. Together, they had nine children. In 1962, they settled in Rupert where they were lifelong members of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. He was a Cursillista and a member of the Knights of Columbus for the past sixty years.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Larry) Reynolds, Israel (Beth) Espinoza, Vivian (Doug) Gallahger, Lorrie Espinoza, Connie (Mike) Colbo, Marty (Nancy) Espinoza and Teresa Espinoza; twelve grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; one sister, Josefina (Baldemor) Escobedo and one brother, Pete Espinoza. He is preceded in death by his wife, daughter Margie Stephenson, son-in-law Michael Stephenson, his son Domingo Espinoza and grandson Isaiah Espinoza; his brothers Andres, Hipolito, Paul, Jesse and Epimeño and his sisters Cristina, Paula, Tomasa, and Bonifacia.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Rupert. Recital of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 also at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will take place at the Rupert Cemetery following the Mass with military graveside rites by the Mini-Cassia Veterans. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
