Gertrude Cecelia Rausch Stuart passed away November 3, 2025, at Canyon Retirement in Twin Falls, Idaho. She was born on December 11, 1936, in Rupert, Idaho to Charles and Marie Henscheid Rausch.
Gertrude attended Lincoln and Pioneer grade schools, Rupert Jr and High Schools. She graduated from the class of 1955. The last class to graduate from Rupert High School. She attended Mt. Angel Women’s College for one year at Mt. Angel, Oregon.
Gertrude married Ernest W. Stuart January 19, 1957, and raised their children Tom, Colleen, Bill, Juile, Beth, and Rose in the Rupert area where they lived their whole life.
Gertrude worked for a short time at Rexall Drug Store, stopping long enough to raise their six children before going back to work for the Minidoka Memorial Hospital, retiring after 20 years as laundry department head. She also volunteered at St Nicholas School in the Library.
She was an active member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church. She also belonged to the Nicholette home extension club and later the Willing Hands Extension Club.
Gertrude loved crocheting and doing embroidery work where she won many ribbons at the Minidoka County Fair each year.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest W. Stuart her son Bill, parents Charles and Marie Henscheid Rausch, her brother Fr. Nicholas, and Sister Elizabeth.
She’s survived by her children Thomas Stuart, Colleen (Bob) Dobkins, Julie (Dennis) Adfield, Beth Beck, and Rosella Stuart. Grandchildren Benjamin, Wendy, Ann, Rusty, Brent, Savanah, Anthony, Nicholas, and Kade. Nine grandchildren, Twenty-four great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. Her sister’s Sister Dorothy, Sister Christine, and Sister Regina.
Rosary and Viewing for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday November 11, 2025, at Hansen Mortuary and one hour prior to the services at the church. The Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 4, 2025, at the St Nicholas Catholic Church. Services will conclude with burial in the Rupert Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
