Héctor T. Farfán, 59, passed away at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls on April 16, 2025.
Héctor was born in Tunguitiro, Michoacán, Mexico, on April 1, 1967, to Bernardo R. Farfán and María Elena Farfán. He emigrated with his family to Idaho in 1983 and attended Minico High School.
On November 21, 1992, he married Irma Castro in the Logan Temple, and together they had three children. He spent most of his working life in agriculture, primarily driving for trucking companies.
One of the things he will be most remembered for is his love for the San Francisco 49ers. Héctor followed his team through both wins and losses; he could recite the names and jersey numbers of past players dating back to the early 1980s. You always knew it was Hector because wherever he went, his 49ers hat went with him.
At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife, Irma; his sons, Danny and Eddy; his father; and his siblings. Although he faced many medical complications in recent years, he persevered through these challenges and was often seen trimming and doing yard work for his two oldest sisters. He could barely walk but was still willing to put forth the effort.
He is survived by his wife, Irma Farfán; his sons, Danny Farfán and Eddy Farfán; his daughter, Consuelo (Kim) Newbold; and his grandchildren, Levi, Kaleb, Emma, and Sadie. He is also survived by his father Bernardo Farfán Sr.; his brothers, Miguel Farfán, Joe Farfán, Bernardo Farfán Jr., and Abraham Farfán; his sisters, Rosa Nuñez, Blanca Wight, América Cannon, and Elena Banks; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, María Elena Farfán, and his sister Gema Farfán Gomez.
Héctor came across as a grumpy old man in his later years, but beneath that exterior was a man with a subtle, charismatic ability to tease family members and one who demonstrated a genuine friendliness toward all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
The family thanks all the medical personnel who helped him through his challenges, especially his medical team and friends at DaVita Dialysis in Burley, Idaho.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Acequia 1st Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, 20403 5th st. Rupert, (Acequia 1st Ward Building).
