Helen Marie Walton Bradley passed away at home on 17 June 2024 in Burley, Idaho. She was born on 28 October 1932 at home in Moreland, Bingham County, Idaho to Albert Leo Walton and LaRue Petrea Humphreys Walton. She was the third child and oldest daughter.  She was raised in the Moreland area and attended school in Moreland, graduating from Moreland High School. In 1945 she finally got her much loved little sister, which made the family complete.

Mom met Dal Gene Bradley Sr. at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in 1948 and began corresponding with him sporadically for the next few years.  When Dad joined the Navy, they began writing regularly. Helen worked for Mountain Bell as a telephone operator for a few years. They were married in Shelley, Idaho on 12 October 1952 at Grandma Bradley’s home.  They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 16 January 1963.  Mom had her first son, Dal Gene Jr. in 1953, while Dad was at sea with the Navy, and was able to move and join Dad in Rhode Island to be with him until his discharge. They then drove back to Idaho and set up home in Moreland.  Albert Melvin was born in 1955, followed by Dalrie Petrea in 1956. The last to join the family was Teresa Marie in 1958. Helen was a busy mom, with four children under the age of 5.

While her kids were little she babysat for others.  When Teresa got into 2nd grade she took a job at the school lunch room and worked there for many years.  She then worked for the Atomic Energy Commission (later known as ERDA, INEL, and now INL) until her retirement in 1992. She worked in the cafeteria, the laundry, and as a telephone operator.

Helen loved people and could make friends quickly and easily.  She loved telling and hearing good “Dad Jokes.” She was a hard worker. Over the last few years she spent thousands of hours folding grocery bags for the Humanitarian Center.  She loved feeling useful even when her mobility and strength waned.

Mom was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints most of her life.  She worked in many of the organizations including the Primary, Relief Society, and the Library.  She even served a genealogy mission for two years at the Burley Family History Center.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and LaRue Walton, her brothers Darreld Walton and Bert Walton, her husband Dal Gene Bradley Sr., her children Dal Gene Bradley Jr., Albert Melvin Bradley, and Dalrie Petrea Bradley, a grandson, Adam Vargas, and many other family members.  She is survived by her daughter Teresa Marie Bradley Vargas (Leonardo) of Burley, her sister Marjorie Jean Harris of Idaho Falls, 16 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
