Helen Jean Mort

With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of Helen Jean Mort, 76 of Caldwell, Idaho. She passed away surrounded by her sons, granddaughters, and daughter in laws at west valley medical center on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Helen was born on September 4, 1947, to Charles and Janie Romans in Rio Tinto, Nevada. Helen was raised on a ranch in South Dakota where she developed a true passion for Western life. In 1956 her family relocated to Parma, Idaho where she lived until she graduated at Parma High School in 1965. Shortly after she moved to Paul Idaho for cosmetology school. That’s where she met her first husband Rae Adams and was married in August of 1966 and in October of 1967, they had their son Tony Adams. This was the beginning of Helen’s true passion and love for her family. Helen then married Vern Mort in April of 1969 after becoming widowed. They then had their son Billy Mort in October of 1969. Helen loved her boys more than anything in this world. After raising her sons Helen had a change of heart In her career and decided on nursing school. She graduated in Twin Falls, Idaho an L.P.N. She started her L.P.N. career at Sunbridge in Twin Falls, Idaho and later transferred to Sunbridge in Meridian, Idaho where she worked for many years. Helen then worked at Meadowview Nursing Home for the last 15 years and was still employed up to the date she passed. Helen had a heart of gold and was very loving. She was especially a very proud mother and grandmother to her 2 sons, 6 grandkids and 8 great grandbabies. She will be missed tremendously by our family.

She is survived by her sons Tony (Bonnie) Adams, Billy (Dana) Mort. Granddaughters Nicole (Eddie) Resz, Kelsee (Jose) Gutierrez, Ashley (Aleksander) Kekerovic, Hattie (Levi) Downey. Grandson Noah Mort. Sister Barbara Huff, her great grandkids and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Janie Romans. Siblings Norris Romans and Beverly Eder, grandson Mason Adams and nephew Casey Romans.

Her family would like to thank West Valley ICU for taking care of her last moments here with us. Also, a huge thank you to Joel Heward and family for helping lay our precious mother/grandmother to rest. Lastly, we want to thank her nursing family she developed over the years. She loved each and every one of her co-workers and especially her boss Jeremy of Meadowview Nursing Home.

Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Rock Creek Cemetery in Rock Creek, Idaho where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at Hansen Mortuary 710 6th street, Rupert, Idaho. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
