Hillary Dawn Whiting Horgan, 53, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 11th, 2025, at her home in Rupert, Idaho. She was the baby of the family, born on September 10th, 1971, to Sheryl and Barry Whiting at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.

Hillary started skiing at Pomerelle around three years old alongside her mom, dad, and older sisters; Molly Whiting (Pelton) and Amy Whiting (Yates). As the years progressed, she developed an incredible knack for exemplary customer service at her very first job where she welcomed many of you through the doors of the family-owned B&B Market in Rupert. Hillary was the lifeblood of B&B; she created a legacy that persevered despite the passage of time and changes—with people often reminiscing on the memories they hold of a place that was made so special by her.

While Hillary became a pillar of the community, she also became a mom to her daughter; Chelsey Ferrin, son; Holden Horgan, and daughter; Hunter Garro. Soon thereafter, she married the love of her life, Michael Horgan, on August 6th, 1997, and became a stepmom to our brother, Travis Horgan. Michael proposed to Hillary at Neptune Park following a city league soccer game for Chelsey, in a moment he described as “undeniable joy and love” as he looked around at “our big, beautiful, blended family.” Michael and Hillary were soulmates in the truest sense and shared 28 beautiful years of marriage. He is calm, collected, and loyal; she was a rebel spirit, funny and charismatic, with love for those around her that never wavered. They complimented one another in the most perfect of ways, always balancing each other out as they handled the highs and lows of life with a united front.

Her most treasured accomplishment, aside from motherhood and being a grandma, was her career at Kerbs Oil for the past 26 years. She was a staple to many of you throughout your days, serving up coffee, redbull’s, smokes, lotto tickets, and occasionally a smile (or insults, if you were lucky!). Her genuine ability to make anyone feel welcomed and special will be deeply missed. On February 1st, 2025, she accomplished her lifelong dream of buying the business from Lori and Brent Kerbs. She and Michael renamed the store Triple H Oil in honor of their son, Holden Horgan, who tragically passed in 2021. Hillary’s legacy will be long felt for years to come because of her devotion to her community and for anyone that needed a helping hand or listening ear.

In her free time, she was happily exploring a newfound passion for camping and fishing with her husband, spending time with all of her grand babies, playing with her English bulldogs, and dreaming up all sorts of unique ideas for her business.

Hillary is preceded in death by her sons, Holden Levi Horgan and Gage Andrew Horgan, her grandson Cooper Gage Horgan, maternal grandparents Irene and Ralph Hathaway, paternal grandparents Evelyn and Garth Whiting, and several other beloved extended family members and friends. Our hearts are comforted knowing she is reunited with her sons and all others that have left us too soon.

She is survived by many that loved and adored her. Her husband and daughters will miss her profoundly and are shaken by the sudden loss of the matriarch of their family. Her mother and father, Sheryl and Barry Whiting, loved her endlessly and will forever miss their baby girl. Her sisters, Molly Pelton and Amy Yates, will miss their little sister with whom they share the most special memories. Her grandchildren, Kennedy Chavez, Nixon Smithee, Sadie & Payton Horgan, Sailor Hankel, and Bentley & Briley Horgan will all miss the resounding “hey, baby!” every time they saw their Nana Hillary.

We want to extend sincere acknowledgment and gratitude to the following that Hillary considered her chosen family and loved deeply: Letticia “TC” Hernandez-Godfrey, Lori & Brent Kerbs, and Rick & Autumn Tundag. To the countless other individuals touched by the love of Hillary, we would be unable to name you all with enough space and time, which brings us deep comfort and peace.
