We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Hansen Mortuary
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Tuesday May 3, 2022, surrounded by his family. After a short illness, Jimmy Doyle Tuckiness left this earth to join his Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Jimmy was born June 26, 1929 in Lamesa Texas to Freida (Kahl) and Allie Arthur Tuckness. Jimmy was the baby brother to his two doting sisters Selma (Sis) and Edith (Skeet). He graduated from Klondike country school at the young age of 15. It was then, along side his mother, he took over the family farm and began what would become his lifetime work.
In 1951 he was drafted by the U. S. Army and he served in Korea for two years. Shortly after he returned from his time of service, Jimmy decided to take in a Klondike girls basketball game. He had always known Lorene as they lived near each other, but that day, as he was watching her play, there was just something about that girl that caught his eye. He was so smitten, he deemed it worthy to wait until her parents would allow him to date her. Jimmy married the love of his life, Lorene LaVon Mitchell on January 18, 1953. They made their home in Lamesa, and in New Mexico for a short time.
Jimmy and LaVon had three children; Vicki (Gerald) Church, Ernie, and Don (Jeanette) Tuckness. Shortly after Don was born, Jimmy was eligible to participate in the military draw for a farm in Idaho. In January of 1959, they packed up their family and homesteaded northwest of Paul where they farmed for many years. Jimmy loved farming so much that he passed on his passion of working the earth to his two sons. He farmed with his sons for many years, always willing to offer advice or insight or just lend a helping hand if needed. He never could quite get the hang of retiring. He was always eager to get into a tractor or run for parts, anything that would get him into a field. His legacy has extended to a granddaughter, and soon, a great grandson.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his sisters. He leaves behind his loving wife Lorene LaVon (Mitchell) Tuckness, His children Vicki, Ernie, and Don. Eight grand Children: Heath Church, Jamie Oldham, Kari Ringle, Toni (Jason) Culley; Austin, Beau, Cyan and Jazzmin Tuckness. He also acquired 2 bonus grandsons Austin and Braden Tracey. He leaves Eleven great Grandchildren: Korbyn and Khendyn Church, Coby (Renae) and Zayne Eckley, Jessa Oldham and 2 bonus great grands Katelyn Smith and Brodee Oldham. Falon, Draven and DeVyn Ringle. Holland, JayLee, and Jakoda Culley. Jimmy was also blessed with one great-great granddaughter Tess Marie Eckley.
He is survived by many nieces and nephew's, great nieces and nephew's in Texas and close friends in both Idaho and Texas.
