Joan Cole Henderson, 89, of Kimberly Idaho, passed away on June 5, 2024, in Bradenton Florida with her only daughter RN Cheryl Cobb close by attending to her every need.

Joan was born in Preston Idaho on April 28, 1935, and grew up in Idaho, where she attended multiple high schools, ultimately graduating from Rigby High School. Her life-long connection with Ralph Henderson began in Preston as children and blossomed into a deep and enduring love. The two married on May 5, 1954, shortly after Ralph enlisted in the Army.

Joan's early married life was marked by resilience and adaptability, moving frequently due to Ralph's military assignments and various job relocations. During lean times she helped support her family through various jobs, from working in daycare to clerical positions, while raising their four children: Bruce, Craig, Dale, and Cheryl.

In 1966, Ralph and Joan were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple, strengthening their commitment to each other and their faith. Joan balanced her roles as a dedicated mother and a working professional, eventually becoming a supervising clerk at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services.

Joan's talents and passions included tatting, reading, crossword puzzles, playing the piano, sewing, writing, and genealogical work. She was known for her handmade gifts, such as cartoon T-shirts and intricate Christmas snowflake ornaments.

Joan Henderson leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, cherished by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed for a relatively short season (James 4:14) and forever remembered.

She is survived by her husband Ralph, her sister Julie Buck, her brother Vernon Cole, her 4 children Bruce, Craig, Dale, and Cheryl, 15 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 14, 2024, at the Hansen Mortuary in Rupert Idaho. She will be interred at the Minidoka Acequia Rupert Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
