John Marshall Obituary

Pastor John Ellis Marshall passed away on September 22, 2024, in Vale, Oregon at the age of 75. He formerly lived in Burley, ID, Bullhead City, AZ, Boise, ID, Roseburg, OR. Ventura, CA, Simi Valley, CA and Saranac, NY. Born on June 8, 1949, John dedicated much of his life to his children, foster children and ministry, embodying a heart of gold and an unwavering commitment to his faith and community.

John's early education began at Saranac Central School and continued at Simi Valley High School and San Jose State, followed later by his theological studies at Boise Bible College, fortifying his foundation in ministry. He also completed a master’s degree in counseling from Liberty University. Throughout his life, John served as a compassionate caregiver and minister, a calling he pursued with profound passion and dedication. His spiritual journey started with his role as a father to his three children and continued with many foster children as he extended his ministry beyond the church and into his home.

 

He is remembered lovingly by his family, including his children and their spouses, Deborah Marshall (Todd), Pastor Steven Marshall (Becky), Mark Marshall (Angie) and Lauren Brascia (Vince); his siblings, Peggi Murchison Cohen, Patricia Cohen, Donald Marshall, Jr., David Marshall, Lilly Marshall, Cynthia Alvarado, Gloria Peoples, Frances Freamon, and Tammy Johnson; and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Shelsea, Collin, Kyla, Ella, Nolan, Lauren and Norah. John was predeceased by his parents, Ruth (Rivers) and Donald Marshall; two wives, Marlene Brauer Marshall and Alice Tully Marshall; and his brother, Ronald.

 

Donations in memory of John can be made to further two causes that were dear to his heart, Rise Service Inc. of Idaho and Vale Christian Church in Vale, OR, for continuing his legacy of love and service. His life, marked by his devotion and the countless hearts he touched, will be remembered as a beacon of love and wisdom. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Hansen Mortuary. Viewing for family and friends will be held for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
