John Robert Millard, 79, of Rupert, Idaho passed away August 28, 2023 at his home.
Dad was born September 29, 1943 at home in Oakley, Idaho to Joseph Henry Millard and Edith Hazel Stowers Millard.
His father passed away in 1962. Edith later met and married Walter Smythe, a great and wonderful man!
Dad lived in several places over the years: Oakley, Acequia, Burley and Nampa.
Dad was proceeded in death by his parents, Walter Smythe (stepfather), Dustin Ransom (grandson); brothers: Bill Millard, Henry Millard, Joe Millard, Ben Millard, Rynold Baumgartner (brother-in-law), Michael Millard (nephew), and special love Myrna Craner.
He is survived by his only sister Marriane Baumgartner and brother Dan Millard, sisters-in-law Arlene Millard and Maxine Millard Orne, his four children: Claudia Miller (Fred), Joani, Perry, Wendy Bishop (Tod), Wes Millard; six grandchildren, ten greats and one great-great-grandson, several nieces and nephews, and very best friends Louie and Patches.
Dad served in the Army from 1965-1967, where he learned welding.
After he was discharged, he married Paula Bryant. They were later divorced.
They moved to Pocatello to attend ISU. He earned degrees in drafting and electrical.
He spent his life as an electrician and electrical contractor, working in every aspect of the field.
Our dad was a simple man. He loved hunting, fishing, riding his 4-wheeler, and restoring cars, but his biggest enjoyment was coffee with Louie.
He was a busy man and could never sit still for long. We know he passed doing what he loved most, working on his property.
We love you Dad and Grandpa dear. We will meet you at your fishing hole in the sky.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8pm, September 6 at Hansen Mortuary, in Rupert. A graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery, in Heyburn, at 11 am September 7. A luncheon will be held directly afterward, at Bryant Farm 1N 500 W Hwy 30 Burley, ID. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
