Julia Young Obituary

Julia Denese Young, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and good friend passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at the age of 73. Denese was born December 13th, 1950, to Harold Young and Aleen Baxter Young in Lamesa, Texas. For seven years she enjoyed helping her parents and three brothers work on the family farm. In 1957 her family moved to Idaho to homestead west of Paul. Denese attended school in Minidoka County and graduated from Minico High School in 1969. Just recently, she was thrilled to be able to attend her 55th class reunion.

After graduation, Denese attended college at the University of Idaho and then the College of Southern Idaho. While there, she met and married Robert Ploss in 1972. After thirteen years of marriage, they were divorced. During their marriage they welcomed Grant, Katie and Abbie, the pride and joy of Denese’s life. After her divorce she was diagnosed with cancer and fought a long and hard battle, coming through it a survivor. Then, as a single mom, she faced her next long and hard battle; being a full-time student and mom to her three kids. She attended Boise State University and Idaho State University, where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1993.

Denese loved the Lord Jesus and attended Rupert First Christian Church until she moved to Twin Falls in 2011.  She had the most generous spirit, always wanting to do kind things for the people in her life. She was an incredible seamstress! She made all the clothes for her family while they were growing up and also made both daughter’s wedding dresses by hand. Denese was rarely seen without yarn and a crochet hook in her hand! She loved to make scarves, sweaters, hats and crafts for anyone who would take them. Everyone in her family has beautiful quilts and blankets to remember her by.

Denese loved her children and grandchildren and bragged on them any chance that she got. As her health began to decline and she was unable to visit them, she would always call for updates. Family and friends were the most important part of her life.

She was preceded into heaven by her grandson Braxton; her brothers, John and Royce; her father and mother; and many other adored family members. She is survived by her children, Grant Ploss (Brandy Burnside) of Idaho Falls; Katie (Mike) McManus of Rupert; Abbie Nordsieck (Shane Gardner) of Hailey; 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren her brother Wayne (Trudy) Young.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 4th at Hansen Mortuary. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Hansen Mortuary, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held on another date at the Rupert Cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Kim and the girls from Rosetta Assisted Living for loving and caring for mom so well. Also, a very special thank you to Tonya, Sherry, and Erica from Hospice Visions for all they have done for mom and our family.
