Lela Alexander Obituary

“Dust thou art to dust thou shall return” was not spoken of the soul.  Lela Marie Denton Alexander, surrounded by her loving family, bade farewell to her earthly life to a joyful life with her Heavenly Father at Valley Vista on November 13, 2020.  There to greet her were the precedents who went before her.  Her mom, dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents, family members and beloved friends.

Lela was born on July 15, 1925 in Ottowa County, Oklahoma to Ralph C. Denton and Maudie M. Pliler Denton.  She grew up on a farm not far from her birthplace.  Her childhood days were wonderful.  Being a child of the depression, Lela learned from her loving parents the importance of hard work, honesty, and a yearning to learn.  She attended elementary school at Sunnyside, Oklahoma, also close to her place of birth.  After graduating from the eighth grade, she attended high school receiving her 12th grade diploma.  It was there she met Jack Alexander, her beloved husband of 68 years.

To this union was born two sons, Jackie (Valarie) Alexander of Rupert, Idaho, Michael (Annette) Alexander of Provo, Utah and one daughter, Susan Alexander of Rupert, Idaho, 10 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Let it be said Lela Marie’s greatest joy was time spent with her Lord, being a member of the Rupert First Christian Church for 58 years. Spending time with her beloved family, having backyard picnics for family and friends.  Lela loved gifting family and friends with her hobbies of crocheting afghans and other things.  Let it be known that Lela loved life.

When God calls my number and it’s time to go
I’ve made preparations I want you to know
Ill be in that number that meets in the air
Make me promise that you’ll be there too.

Make me a promise that we’ll meet someday
Where mansions are waiting in the land far away
I want you to tell me, so I’ll know it’s true
Make me a promise that you’ll  be there too.

When loved ones have gathered with tears on each face
I’d like to remind them I’m not in this place
I’m already living inside Glory Land
May God be with  you ‘til we meet again.
