Lloyd Peart Davis, 87, from Carey passed away peacefully at home on April 28, 2025.
He is survived by his wife-Larraine; children-Felisa Davis, Denise (Jay) Thomas and Logan (Robin) Davis; grand children-LaMar (Vanessa) Thomas, Jesse (Brian) Lee, Sean (Sarah) Church, and Weston Baker; thirteen great grandchildren; his sister-Jane Bronson; nephew-Blair (Dianne) Davis and several nieces.
Lloyd was born on December 9, 1937, and raised in Rupert Idaho on a farm. His dad used a team of horses for freighting and to work the fields and that is where Lloyd got his love of draft horses. In 1960, Lloyd & Larraine moved to Carey where Lloyd worked on several ranches and began his cowboy career. He loved the cowboy way of life.
In the early years Lloyd was a member of the Carey jamboree team and they performed numerous events from horseback in towns in southern Idaho. In the 70’s he started a team roping club in Carey and in the 80’s he started competing in draft horse pulling contests in Idaho and neighboring states.
Lloyd looked forward to the spring branding, fall round up and the fall season so he could hunt deer and elk. He enjoyed helping neighbors and giving a lot of service.
Things the family enjoyed together were playing Pollyanna, a board game like Sorry, riding the sleigh in winter which was pulled by a team of horses while feeding the cattle, and going on weenie roasts. The kids, grandkids and great grands always looked forward to these activities.
Memorial services for Lloyd will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Carey, 20494 North Main Street on May 31, 2025 at 11:00 am. There won’t be a graveside service as his remains will be cremated. There will be a luncheon provided after the service, and everyone is encouraged to come and eat and visit. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
