Lola Marie Harris, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at 1:15 a.m. at Minidoka Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rupert, Idaho, on December 13, 1932, to Ellwood and Ella Edwards.
Lola was a lifelong resident of Rupert, where she made many cherished memories with her loved ones. She first married and had three children: Robert, Romanda, and Wally. She later married Lauren Harris. Lola was a hard working and devoted mother. She was dedicated to caring and providing for her family. She worked at Magic Valley Foods and retired as a lead supervisor.
Lola had a zest for life and enjoyed various activities. In her younger years, she loved bowling and participated in many bowling tournaments and teams. She also enjoyed crocheting and would crochet hats for humanitarian aid and blankets for her grandchildren. Lola had a passion for travel and traveled the world, including Europe, Hong Kong, Hawaii, and a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and the Bahamas. She especially loved visiting any beach to listen to the waves, especially the Oregon Coast.
Above all, Lola's family was the most important aspect of her life. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was always there for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and showed up for everything she could. She was a strong, spirited, and loving woman, and her memory will be cherished forever by her family.
Lola was preceded in death by her parents Ellwood and Ella Edwards, 8 older siblings, husband Lauren Harris, and son Robert Meiners. She is survived by her children: Romanda (Bruce) Berry of Rupert and Wally (Vicki) Meiners of Rupert; her grandchildren: Charmayne (Shawn) Scow, Bruce (Brandy) Berry, Masina Berry, Phillip (Allie) Meiners, Cole (Brandi) Meiners, Tyler (Cheyanne) Berry, Wendy (Daniel) Merkley, and Shantell (Isaac) Major; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A viewing for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at Hansen Mortuary Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Rupert Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to Home Health Services, Minidoka Memorial Hospital and Hansen Mortuary for their care and support during this difficult time.
