Louis Fredrick Peterson, 91of Rupert died Friday, Sept 27, 2024 at Minidoka
Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 1, 1933, to Oscar Peterson and Lola Tillman Peterson in San Diego, California. He joined his older brother, Donny, which completed their family.
On May 7, 1942, when Fred was 9 years old, he tragically lost his father in WW2. His mother
moved the family to Richfield, Idaho to be closer to family soon after.
He graduated high school in Richfield and went on to serve in the Army during the Korean War.
He married Mary Nan Sylwester on Aug 31, 1957. After a few moves, usually following
employment, eventually settling in Heyburn. He retired from the Idaho Highway Department.
They were blessed with three children, Deborah Lou, then twins, Christene Joy (Paul) Bolland,
and Victor Roy (Mechelle) Peterson.
Fred was the type of person who spent a lot of time alone. He loved to be outdoors, either
hunting, fishing, gardening, or just enjoying nature.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, their three children, 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren,
and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and nephew.
Graveside services will be Oct 9, 2024, at 9am at the Richfield cemetery, with military rights.
Memorial services will be Oct 9, 2024, at 11am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rupert. There will be a luncheon following the services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
