Magdalena R. Martinez

Magelena Rivas Martinez, 88, passed away on August 29, 2023 at Parke View Care Center in Burley.  She was born in El Paso, Texas on 07/22/1935 to Refugia Hernandez and Felipe Rivas

She lived in Rupert, Idaho and worked at Simplot for 25 years and dedicated 50 years to the Guadalupe Society. She was a devoted church member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

She was a sweet and devoted wife, a caring and loving mother, and cherished grandmother.

She worked and volunteered for Parke View and Countryside Care. She found joy in family gatherings, volunteering for her church and community. She enjoyed activities such as Relay for Life, gardening, knitting, and crocheting.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Cruz P. Martinez and three brothers.

She is survived by her four daughters, Yolanda Sapien (Pedro), Emma Zamora (Juan), Angie Quiroz (Manual), Gloria; two sons Cruz JR., Pedro (Vicky). She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Rupert.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 also at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.  Burial services will take place following the Mass at Riverside Cemetery 813 J Street, Heyburn, Idaho.  A meal will be provided after the burial service at St. Nicholas Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
