Maria Isabel Vega, 80, of Rupert passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at the Vega family home. She was born on May 18, 1943 in Tunguitiro, Mexico. She was raised by Eutacio Leon and Romona Ruiz. Maria and her husband moved to Rupert, ID to be closer to family. Maria is survived by her husband, Jose Reynaldo Vega; her two sons, Martin (Shirley) Vega, Efren (Sara) Vega all from Rupert; her two sisters, Adela Leon and Trinidad Gil; four brothers: Lionardo Leon, Garerdo Leon, Jilberto Leon, Jildardo Leon; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Iduvina L Diaz.

Maria was a devoted and faithful member of the Catholic Church. She consistently prayed for the well-being of those around her and enjoyed spending time with her family members. She cared profoundly for others and was known for giving handmade embroidered gifts. Maria will be severely missed in her hometown community of Tunguitiro, Mexico after having resided there for forty-five years. She genuinely cared for her fellow neighbors and was thankful for all the support they showed her over the years. Maria will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2023 with the Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Maria Isabel Vega’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at St Nicholas Catholic Church. Services will conclude with burial at the Rupert Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
