Marilyn L. McGill was born January 8, 1932. She grew up on the "North-Side" in Minidoka County. She attended Pioneer School and graduated from Rupert High School. She grew up a farm girl, helping her dad in the fields every chance she had.
After high school she met, and later married the love of her life, Johnny McGill. They were married for 54 years prior to Johnny's death. They were blessed with two sons, Johhny Jr. and Jody.
Marilyn and Johnny spent their life together, working as a team on their Jackson, Idaho property. First in the sand and gravel business, until Johnny's accident. Then farming the property and raising hogs and cattle. Marilyn loved raising the animals and working tirelessly at the ranch. Marilyn was known for her hard work. She could buck bails and change sprinkler pipe alongside any man.
In Marilyn's younger years she raised amazing gardens and would can over 500 jars a year for her family to enjoy.
Marilyn loved to entertain her friends and family during the holidays. At Christmas time everyone looked forward to the homemade candies she would make and personally deliver.
After Johnny's passing on October 14, 2005, and much persuasion from her girlfriends, she began monthly trips to Jackpot, Nevada. She always looked forward to those trips. She never hit the big "jackpot” but loved the time with her girlfriends.
At the age of 90, after surviving breast cancer, Marilyn moved to Autumn Haven Assisted Living in Rupert.
She shared the facility with friends of her age, as well as making many new friends.
Marilyn was proceeded in death by her youngest son Jody, husband Johnny, parents Pete and Zara Wakewood, and her two brothers Don and Jerry Wakewood. She is survived by her son Johnny Jr.
(Jeannie), two grandsons Douglas, and Johnathon (Trisha) McGill, and three great grandchildren.
