Our beautiful daughter, Matea Lynn Hunt, passed away on July 14, 2021, after a short battle with epilepsy. Matea was born December 30, 2003, in the Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley, Idaho. Daughter of Travis and Jenny Hunt, big sister to Wyatt Hunt, and Momma to her beloved dog Buddy. Matea attended school at Heyburn Elementary, West Minico Jr High, and Minico High schools. She played the violin for West Minico and the cello for Minico. Her favorite class was Orchestra followed close behind by Veterinary science and cooking.
Matea loved all animals especially the wolves, which was always a discussion point for her and her dad. She had planned on attending College to become a veterinarian and move to Alaska, which was again a sore subject for her dad because he hates the cold, but her mother loved other than the distance. She had a love and great talent for cooking and baking which we all loved for the food she would make for special occasions, especially the cakes. But, by far Matea’s favorite thing was reading. You would never see her without a book in her hand. We could never make a trip to Twin Falls with her without stopping at Barnes and Noble for more books.
Matea enjoyed playing pranks on her little brother, getting into discussions about climate change with her father, and Christmas decoration shopping with her mom. She loved to babysit her grandma and Grandpa Melton’s dogs and out-fish her Grandpa Hunt.
Matea does not have a mean bone in her body. She always made you see the positive in everything. She had a quiet, beautiful nature about her, and she will be forever missed.
Matea was preceded in death by great grandparents May and Cecil Melton, Lydia and Bob Jesse, Merlin and Ophelia Hunt, Ben and Beverly Tucker, and Cousin Renee Jesse.
She is survived by her parents Travis and Jenny Hunt, little brother Wyatt, and her beloved dog Buddy. As well as, her grandparents Norman and Joelene Hunt, Lynn and Tami Melton, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Hansen Mortuary and a viewing for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 20, 2021 also at Hansen Mortuary. Burial will take place at the Rupert Cemetery following the funeral. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
