Melissa (Ruiz) Reyes

Melissa Ruiz was taken from us, unexpectedly, on November 12, 2020, at the age 22, in Twin Falls, Idaho. 

Melissa began her journey on December 6th, 1997 in Burley, Idaho to her loving parents, Rafael Ruiz and Martha Ruiz Ramirez. She grew up in Rupert, Idaho with her only sibling, Oscar Ruiz.

Melissa loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She adopted two pets that she loved taking care of, and named her puppies Koda and Maverick. She also enjoyed spending time with her parent’s dogs, Boots and Duke. Melissa enjoyed shopping, swimming, and decorating. She loved watching and capturing sunsets and enjoyed drinking an ice cold coffee. She loved traveling to the beach and to watch the ocean waves.

Melissa’s favorite hobby was photography. She had a great talent in photography. She captured beautiful images of nature, the outdoors, and of her family and friends. Melissa was a dedicated and outstanding college student. Her biggest dream was to become a registered dental hygienist. She was currently enrolled in the dental hygiene school at the College of Southern Idaho and was in her senior year of college.

Melissa was a beautiful, creative, smart, and responsible young lady. She was a great supportive friend to many and never hesitated to help the people she loved. Melissa was a role model to her family and friends, and looked after the people she cared about. She will always be remembered for her inspiring positivity, her beautiful smile, and her nurturing soul.

Melissa is survived by her parents, Rafael and Martha Ruiz; her younger brother, Oscar Ruiz; her maternal grandparents, José Ramirez and Consuelo Ramirez; her paternal grandmother, Josefa Cisneros; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Rafael Ruiz.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday November 20 at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church and a viewing for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday November 19, 2020 at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert. Services will conclude with a burial at Rupert Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
