Michael Kenneth Schlund

Michael K. Schlund, our husband, papa and great papa, brother & friend, age 80 passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at his home in Rupert, ID. with loved ones at his side. Mike was born in Twin Falls, ID. May 19, 1945, to Harold K. Schlund & Francis Schlund. He was the middle child to brother Richard (Diana) of Castleford, Id & sister to Julie (Mike) Floyd of San Angelo, Texas. He attended school at the Greenwood School and Hazelton Grade School. In 1961 the family moved to the Crestview Area to farm and Mike transferred to Minico High School and graduated with the class of 1963. Go Spartans! He married Dianne Koch that same year. In the fall they moved to Sterling, Colorado and he attended Northeastern Junior College where he earned a degree in Agri Business.

We were blessed with 1 child Cindy Annette Schlund of Heyburn, ID. They were blessed with 1 granddaughter Shelby O’Brien (Tyler). Three great grandchildren, Tripp, Willow and Raleigh O’Brien all of Rupert, ID.  Mike and Dianne bought an acreage and lived in one of the most beautiful places, raising cow-calves, horses, dogs & cats. He loved looking at the South Mountains and the Snake River from their home. He loved to hunt, ride his horses, 4-wheelers, ATV with his friends, camp, and fish. Mike was employed at J.R. Simplot Co. & McCain’s Foods.

Mike was proceeded in death by his parents and his nephew Steven Koch.

We want to thank our neighbors and wide amount of friends for all the help through the years.  Thank you Horizon Hospice for the wonderful care you delivered.

Funeral services will be held 2:00p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at Hansen Mortuary.  Viewing for family and friends will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hansen Mortuary and  one hour prior to services.  Services will conclude with burial in the Paul Cemetery under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
