Michael Toms Obituary

Michael George Toms passed away on Tuesday July 16, 2019 at home in Paul, Idaho.  Michael was born in Nampa, ID to Anna Marie Carter, and George Earnest Toms.  He married Brenda Lou Parker-Caldwell on July 12, 1975.  They spent 44 years together before his death.

In his youth Michael spent summers working on the ranch for his grand-father in Jordan Valley, OR where he developed a love of horses.  In his young adult years, he developed a love of motorcycles that stayed with him his entire life even after having a few bad wrecks that resulted in serious injuries. During these years he was living in California working for Aetna finance and in 1974 he relocated from California to Ogden, Utah. Shortly thereafter he moved to Kearns, Utah with his soon-to-be wife Brenda.  Where he went to work for Schmidt Body and Paint for many years.  After he left Schmidt’s he worked at Eimac for many years, before he decided it was time to move the family to Paul, ID. Where he could further the love of his horses and enhance their opportunities in racing.  While living in Paul, ID he worked a short time for Del Monte, and Simplot before he was hired on at Amalgamated Sugar where he retired from, in 2008.

Michael was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting big game as well as pheasants and ducks.  He liked to fish as well but was always skunked for some reason. His hobbies included coin collecting, gun collecting, fast cars, and motorcycles. He loved his motorcycles and spent lots of time riding as he once did in his younger years. He took trips to Sturgis, SD and thought the riding was beautiful and the experience was exceptional. Prior to his death he was building a chopper which he designed and was just about done completing. This was his project, and all he wanted was to take it for at least one ride.

Michael was preceded in death by both of his parents and step-parents, a sister, and a daughter.

He is survived by his wife Brenda. A brother, Joe Toms of Boise, ID. A daughter, Yvonne (Scott) of Heyburn, ID. A daughter Michelle (Steve) of Boise, ID. A daughter Kassie (Clint) of Longview, WA. A son Kenneth (Kristine) of Salt Lake City, UT.  Also, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
