Nathaniel McCarty

Nathaniel Lee McCarty was born February 7, 1977 and was called home Sunday, July 30, 2023. Nate was living in Cedar City, Utah at the time with his love Laura Sterner and his pampered pets Blu an English bulldog, and Coco a German shepherd.

Nathaniel attended schools in Burley and graduated from Burley High. After graduation he worked for the Cassia School District before moving to Twin Falls. In Twin Falls and Cedar City Nate worked as a care provider for adults with challenges.

When Nathaniel was younger he got the nick name Mert and was known by that name until he was in Jr. High where his classmates started calling him Nate. From then on as he would say "I'm just Nate".

Nathaniel was kind, loving, gentle, and calm (unless it involved a spider. Nate did not like spiders at all). From holding his grandbabies to caring for his adult clients, he was always mindful of others needs. His clients in Twin Falls still ask their workers if they can face time with Nate. He liked to have fun and usually had a joke or two to share. One of the things he often said was "Don't put me in a box".

Nate was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa Forrest McCarty, his maternal grandparents LeRoy and Ruby Jones. Aunt Betsy Hartman and Uncle David Pockel. Sister-in-law Angie (Gorringe) McCarty, and cousins David and Coltin Dwight.

Nathaniel is survived by his children Landyn, Sage (Jadon), and Natalie. His true love Laura Sterner. Laura's children Alexandra (John), Shikinah (Skiler), and Andrew. Nates sister Melissa Ashby (Woody), brother Anthony McCarty (Stephanie), niece Marina Frayer and Nephew Jules McCarty. Mother and father Patricia and Danial McCarty.

Nathaniel touched many lives during his short time on earth as demonstrated by the many condolences we have received since Sunday. We all miss you like crazy and know the hardest times are yet to come.

 Viewing for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 7, 2023 at Hansen Mortuary in Rupert. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
