Norma Jean Fredrick Phillips was born February 22, 1944 in Boise, Idaho. Five weeks later she came home to a farm south of Rupert to her adopted Parents Albert and Bessie Eilers Fredrick. Norma passed away on October 13th 2021 at Minidoka Memorial Hospital.
It was on the farm that she thrived learning the life of a taking care of the animals they had and helping with the harvest. She raised lambs for her 4-H project and won State Champion two years in a row. But her favorite pastime was riding her horse with her best friend Juliene Kerbs. They rode many miles around the neighborhood and along the Snake River.
Norma loved school and graduated from Minico High in 1962 and went on to the University of Idaho for 2 years. She moved to Spokane, Washington and started her career in assisting in a dental office. In 1974 Norma started working for Dr. Melling in Burley, Idaho where she worked as his receptionist for 25 years until he retired. She then worked at Bonanza Motors for 10 years until she retired.
She met her soul mate and best friend Dan Phillips in 1990 and they were married in 1994. Dan and Norma enjoyed fishing, gardening, and entertaining in the spacious back yard with friends
and family.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband Dan, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Linda (Ken) Gaydusek; Kimberly (Bret) Parzychowski; and Stacie Rettew. Seven grandchildren and one great grandson, friend Juliene Kerbs and extended Phillips family who were so important in her life.
Services for Norma will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Paul Cemetery following the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
She was a dear friend and will be missed by all of us. RIP Norma.
