In Loving Memory of
Ofelia Vega Salinas March 9, 1936 – April 4, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ofelia Vega Salinas, who passed away peacefully at her home in Jerome, Idaho on April 4, 2025.
Ofelia was born on March 9, 1936, in El Transval, Michoacán, Mexico, to Jesús Salinas and Ramona Medina. A woman of deep faith and strength, she was a devoted Catholic and a guiding light to her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Austreberto Vega, and her sons Sergio Vega and Victor Manuel Vega.
Ofelia leaves behind a large and loving family:
Her children — Enrique Vega, Austreberto J. Vega, Elsa Vega, Lauriano Vega, Roque Vega, Mizael Vega, Graciela Vega, Elizabeth Tovar, Otoniel Vega, and Yaneth Gomez;
Her legacy continues through over 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one touched by her wisdom, kindness, and love.
Ofelia had a passion for gardening, shopping, and dining out, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her warmth, laughter, and nurturing presence will be missed beyond measure.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to St. Luke’s Hospice for their compassionate care, and especially to her son Mizael Vega and his family, for helping keep her comfortable and surrounded by love in her final days.
Ofelia’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at St Nicholas Catholic Church. Viewing with a Rosary will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 at Hansen Mortuary.
