Paul LeRoy Temple passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on June 17, 2024. Paul was born on September 26, 1938, in Burley, Idaho to parents Alva Everett Temple and Viola Gertrude Hayden. Paul grew up in Burley with his siblings Norma, Virgil, Doris, Alvin and Melvin. As a young boy he and his brothers had many adventures together. He loved to work on bikes and cars with his brothers. That passion continued into adulthood. He graduated from Burley High School in 1957, and married his High School sweetheart Colleen Gibson on November 16, 1957. Paul and Colleen lived in Burley early in their marriage and then later moved their family to Rupert, Idaho. They had two children, Rock Temple and Teresa Temple Simon. Paul started working in the parts business right after High School and later partnered with Jay McBride in Minico Auto Parts. Paul retired from Minico Auto Parts in 2000 at the age of 62. Paul and Colleen had many fun “retirement” years spent traveling, golfing, spending time during the winter in Yuma, Arizona, woodworking, and tinkering on cars. Paul was generous with his time and devoted many hours helping his children do home improvement projects over the years. All they had to do was ask, and he was there to help. Paul had a love for old cars and spent 10 years organizing the Rupert Car Show, Skyline Shine and BBQ.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Viola, brothers Gary and Virgil, sister Norma Dietz, grandson Isaac Max Temple, and daughter in law Traci Tainter Temple. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Colleen, son Rock (Tammy) Temple of Burley, Idaho, daughter Teresa (Ross) Simon of Bountiful, Utah, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Hansen Mortuary 710 6th Street Rupert. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
