Richard Gill

Richard “Rich” Allison Gill, 81, of Paul Idaho passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025. He was born on January 3, 1944, in Hill City, Idaho to Lula (Burton) and Allison Gill.  Rich grew up and attended school in Richfield Idaho and resided in Paul Idaho with his wife Patty Gill.  Rich was raised with his siblings Alberta Gill (Brown), Kathy Gill (Johnson), Rob Wayment, and Donny Wayment. He was married to Roberta Giles and had three children, Shane, Cynthia and Craig. They were divorced and he married Linda Culver and together they had two children, Kirk and Angie, and he gained two sons Mike and Bob Lyons. They were divorced and Rich married the love of his life Patty Halbert where he gained three sons Lonnie, Bill and Duane.   

In Rich’s younger years he was a jockey and raced horses. He was employed by his sister Kathy and Wendel Johnson on their ranch in Richfield along with other jobs and drove truck for Triple C Concrete for 32 years until his retirement. 

Rich loved the outdoors and filled his spare time with camping, hunting and fishing. He also loved to build things out of wood and fix things on his own.  

Rich was known by his grandkids and great grandkids as “Grandpa G”. He handed down his love of camping, fishing and hunting to them along with many memories at Stanley, High 5 and any other watering hole or camping sight he could find.  He was known to the neighborhood kids as “Mr. Rich”. They would come over and visit him and Patty and he would fix their bike tires and watch them ride around the neighborhood.  

Rich is survived by his wife Patty Gill, daughter, Angie (Steve) Williams, sons, Shane (Cindy) Gill, Craig (Jackie) Gill, Kirk (Brandy) Gill, Mike Lyons, Bob Lyons, Lonnie (Julie) Smith, Bill (Millie) Smith, Duaine (Hanna) Harrington and his brother Rob (Cathy) Wayment. 31 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren with 1 on the way. Rich is preceded in death by his Parents, Sisters- Kathy and Alberta, Brother- Donny, Daughter- Cynthia and Grandson- Skylar, and loyal dog Baxter.  

Viewing for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Hansen Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday May 17, 2025, at the Richfield Cemetery, Richfield, Idaho.  Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
