Robert Tyler Obituary

Robert “Bob” Lealand Tyler passed away November 24, 2020, at home with his wife, June, by his side. Bob was born Dec 10, 1934, to Artie and Lydia Tyler at home at “The Drop” later known as Granny’s Pad near Declo, Idaho.

Bob and his brothers learned to work from a very young age at the auction yard. He learned meat packing while working for Bledson Packing Co., and later owned his own custom butcher business in Buhl, Idaho. Robert had many different jobs throughout his life and was truly a jack of all trades.

Bob was one of the last true cowboys and spent his younger years working cattle on the deserts of southern Idaho and was intimately aquatinted with that landscape. Later he loved sharing that knowledge and showing others the Indian campsites and trails hidden to all but a few.  Bob remained a cowboy all his life and rodeoed for many years. Team roping was very special to him, he loved every second of it, and won many buckles on his favorite horse Taffy.  In 2018 he was inducted into the Idaho Rodeo Hall of Fame along side his father.

Bob was a fixture at the coffee shop every morning and the sale ring every Thursday, swapping stories and solving the world’s problems.  He had many friends who loved him and he loved them. Bob truly cherished the many friendships he developed over the years.

He married Karen Kay Eames in 1958, later divorced.  They had two sons:

Robbie and Scott.  Robert then married Ione Nelson, and after 12 years divorced.  In 1991 he married June McLaws Cotten.

Together he and June they had 21 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Bob loved being a grandpa.  His grandkids have many memories learning to work, hearing tall tales, fishing, hunting, and riding horses and four wheelers with him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Iiaree Parke,  and two brothers Everett Leslie Tyler and Artie Raymond Tyler. He is survived by his wife June, his sister Patricia Ann Munsee of Twin Falls, Idaho, his two sons Robbie (BillyAnn) Tyler of Manti, Utah and Scott (Amber) Tyler of Rupert, Idaho, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
