Royce Edwin Jensen Jr. freshly 62 years old passed away unexpectedly, January 26, 2022 at Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley, Idaho.  Royce was born at the old Rupert General Hospital on December 30, 1959 (Just shy of a year after his older brother, Mike) to Royce Sr. & Ilse Jensen.  Royce was a resident of Rupert, Idaho for the majority of his life.  He moved to the Nampa/Caldwell area after his parent’s divorce in 1972 and returned in November 1984 with his wife to raise a family.  

 He is preceded in death by his father Royce E. Jensen Sr., Cousin Jared Von Dohln, nephew Richard Jensen, in-laws Lloyd & Marie Waldemer, Paul Waldemer, Ross Norris, & Robert Waldemer.  

Royce is survived by his loving children Carrie (Roger) Everlen of Rupert, Amber (Thayne) Hurst of Rupert, and Alan Royce Jensen of Declo.  Former wife of 31 years & friend Clara Waldemer Jensen.  Parents, step father & mother Josef & Ilse Schoepp of Rupert.  Loving siblings Mike Jensen of Arkansas, Mark (Jayne) Jensen of Nevada, Terry McCann of Rupert, & Patricia (Trish) Maas of Missouri.  Step mother, Nancy Jensen, of Heyburn.  Step siblings Lorena ( Dennis) Hughes of Colorado, Teresa (Steven) Kellems-Briggs of California, Phillip (Kim) Garcia of Rupert, & Kim (Adam) Vega of Rupert and half brothers Brian & Dirk (Karen) Jensen.  His greatest treasures and admirers Justin Ray, Makiah Dawn, Melanie Grace, Cassandra Cheyenne, & Joshua Ellis Thayne who loved their “Papa” dearly.  Along with step grandsons Alex & Jon Everlen & Tyler & Aaron Rutherford. Many wonderful extended family members and long time friends, including Katie Staley.

Royce attended elementary & some jr. high school in Rupert.  After moving to Nampa he attended Nampa Jr/Sr High Schools until 11th grade.  Later earning his GED before entering the Idaho National Guard at age 28.  Royce was in the Guards for 6 years being dubbed the “Old Man”.  Royce’s work history started early, working at the family business, Jensen’s Meat. He’s had many jobs, and was a man of all trades.

Royce found his faith in Jesus Christ later in life, actively serving on the worship team at Praise Chapel Open Bible Fellowship in Rupert.

Royce did many activities in the community; playing in church basketball leagues, many softball/baseball teams, & coaching his son in soccer.  He enjoyed singing, throwing horseshoes, target shooting, hunting, fishing, working on cars, woodcutting, & so much more.  For a time he was actively participating in Brother’s in Christ motorcycle group and enjoyed their runs and loved helping those in need.

 Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022 at First Christian Praise Chapel. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Hansen Mortuary and for one hour prior to the services at the church. Services will conclude with Military Honors provide by the Mini-Cassia Veterans.

Viewing will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 4-6PM at Joel Heward’s Hansen Mortuary 710 6th St. Rupert, Idaho.  The funeral service will be held at First Christian Praise Chapel, 1110 8th St. Rupert, Idaho at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022  with viewing one hour before.  There will be no graveside service. Services are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
