Sammy Herrera Obituary

Samuel L. Herrera, 75 passed away August 30th in Paul, Idaho.  Sam was born in Conejos, CO to Thomas and Shon Herrera on August 14. He was the oldest of 11. He grew up between Colorado and Idaho but he truly called Idaho home. He got married September 29, 1967 to Mary A. Trujillo and together they had 3 children. Sam was a welder fabricator for many years. He worked for Modyne in Salt Lake City, UT for many years and he last worked for Kodiak in Burley, ID. He has work in many states welding and left behind his excellent workmanship for all to see. Sam love to go to the casinos, he totally would light up when it was mentioned. He was truly a one of kind man. He would help any way possible to those who needed it. He loved all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would smile and joke with each one of them. He had a way of talking that would always make us smile. “Hi Hito/Hita” those of us who know can hear that. He was a great man. He was so ready to play a joke or try to scare someone. He is survived by his wife Mary Herrera, his children Albert Herrera, Tina(Ron)Gross and Sammy Herrera Jr. He is also survived by several grandchildren Ronnie, George, Nathan, Tressa, Albert Jr, Cheyanne, Miraya, Angel, Maryjane, Joanie. Great-grandchildren Alaiya, Trinity, Kinzley, Dezmon, Draeger, X’zavion, Penelope, Elencia. He is also survived by 2 sisters Geraldine Trujillo, Grace Herrera and 2 brothers Charles Herrera, Joe Herrera. He also is survived by several loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and the many friends he has made throughout the years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Shon, Siblings- Anthony, Roger, Gilbert, and Debbie.

The viewing will be on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Hansen Mortuary 710 6th Street in Rupert, Idaho from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the Rosary following till 8:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday September 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church 802 F Street Rupert, Idaho.  Burial will take place in the Rupert Cemetery following the Mass.  Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
