Vernon E. Preuit passed away peacefully on the morning of December 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 19, 1945, in Wheatland, Wyoming to Chester and Virginia Preuit.
The family later moved to Rupert, Idaho where Vern grew up and graduated from Minico High School 1964. He entered into the Army soon after graduation where he served in Okinawa, Japan.
He married Kathy Reese in 1969 and together they had two children, Troy Jon and Courtney. They had a small dairy farm where Vern also broke and trained horses. Vern and Kathy later divorced but remained good friends. Vern worked at Amalgamated Sugar until he retired.
He was a true cowboy…he did a lot of rodeoing in his younger days, riding bulls and steer wrestling… and team roping in his later years. Vern was a wonderful father, a doting grandfather, a proud veteran, an avid Chicago Bears football fan, and a faithful servant of God. He had many lifelong friends including friends from his Grace Church.
Vern is survived by his children Troy (Janice) Preuit, Courtney (Gabe) Rollheiser, and grandchildren Sydney and Emerie Preuit, Blayz and Kye Rollheiser as well as a brother, Guy (Rhonda) Preuit.
Vern requested no funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday December 16, 2025, at Hansen Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
