Walter L Damron Jr. 67, passed away at home on January 3rd 2026, after a short illness. He was born on January 20, 1958, in Independence Kansas. Walter was the son of Walter Damron Sr. and Dollie Loudenbarger Damron.
Walter was a retired tractor mechanic, he worked for Randy Rich Equipment for 20 years. He had a love for working on machinery. He also ran a loader in Oklahoma, which was something he was so proud of and that he loved to do. Walter loved the outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing, hunting and riding ATV’s he was at peace. He would be happy doing anything as long as he had family or friends with him. Walter also loved to be in the kitchen and cook.
Walter served in the Idaho and Kansas National Guard for 16 years. He was a Quartermaster and chemical repair mechanic and light wheel and generator mechanic as well.
Walter was married to Penny Lee Shockey for many years. He was also a loving father to 4 children: Richard Reusze, Media Damron Mcgrath, Steven Isaac Damron and Tyson L. Damron.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Sr. and Dollie. His son Steven Isaac Damron. His brothers: Steven Damron, Robert K. Damron, Shirden L Damron, Patrick A. Damron, Bill Damron, Mike Damron, and his sister Dollie K. Damron.
Walter was survived by his children, Richard, Medea, and Tyson. Also his grandchildren, Lillyann Damron, Angelina, Brayden, and Sydney. Also his brother Robert Damron and his sisters Kimberly Hannon, Patty Gearing, Emma Damron and Tammy Damron.
The celebration of life for family and friends will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2026, at Hansen Mortuary, Rupert. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
